Ezra Miller: Hawaii couple accuse Fantastic Beasts star of ‘bursting’ into bedroom and ‘threatening’ them after karaoke bar arrest

Ezra Miller has been arrested for disorderly conduct and harassment in Hawaii following an incident at a karaoke bar, and later in the house of a local couple.

The Fantastic Beasts star yelled obscenities, grabbed a mic from a singing woman and lunged at a man playing darts at Margarita Village, according to Hawaii police.

The 29-year-old took issue with people singing the Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper ballad Shallow at a bar mostly frequented by locals in Hilo, a small town on the Big Island in Hawaii.

They were described as being "aggravated" by the tune, according to Police Assistant Chief Kenneth Quiocho.

Miller was arrested shortly after midnight Monday and charged with disorderly conduct and harassment but was released after paying $500 (£381) bail.

However, just hours later, the star was escorted from a property nearby by police after the residents claimed Miller burst into their bedroom and threatened them.

The couple filed a temporary restraining order the following day. Miller is also accused of stealing some of their belongings, including a passport and wallet, according to court documents.

Officers say they have been contacted ten times over the last three-and-a-half weeks over minor incidents reportedly committed by the actor.

They include filming people at a gas station, refusing to leave the sidewalk area of a restaurant and arguing with people. It’s not clear how long Miller has been on the island.

The actor is understood to have been staying at a hostel in the town, and had been friendly with fans, according to the hostel owner.

Miller – who plays The Flash in Justice League – has been credited as the first out LGBT person to play a lead role in a major superhero film.

The actor also stars in the Fantastic Beasts franchise, playing Credence Barebone, but was absent from the movie’s premiere on Tuesday, which took place in London.

Sky News has contacted Miller’s agent for comment.

In 2020, Miller faced a public backlash after a video was shared online appearing to show them choking a female fan.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is released in the UK on 8 April.
